United States Embassy in Ukraine - Main Page: "Ukraine's EnergoAtom and U.S. Nuclear Firm Holtec International Sign Contract Worth $150 Million
Holtec International signed a contract on December 26 with Ukraine's State Enterprise National Nuclear Energy Generating Company "EnergoAtom" to establish a state-of-the-art central facility for Ukraine's spent nuclear fuel from its Khmelnytskyy, Rivne and South Ukraine Nuclear Power Plants. The central storage facility will eliminate the need for Ukraine to ship spent nuclear fuel long distances for storage on Russian territory at an annual cost of over $100 million. Valued at approximately $150 million, the contract represents the largest investment in Ukraine's commercial nuclear sector by a U.S. company.
The President of Energoatom Yuriy Nedashkovsky and Holtec's President and CEO Dr. Kris Singh signed the contract. The U.S. Ambassador to Ukraine John E. Herbst and Minister of Fuel and Energy of Ukraine Ivan Plachkov witnessed the signing ceremony"
